It is no news that Oprah’s OWN network is struggling. OWN launched last year, after Oprah ended her wildly successful talk show to do something “new”. OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) is a joint venture between her production company, Harpo Productions and Discovery Communications.
Low ratings and a quick cancellation of Rosie O’Donnell’s fledgling show, are a couple of signs that Oprah’s recent venture is in trouble – or is it?
Oprah’s struggles are exciting. Before you jump all over me, hear me out.
Oprah’s seeming “failure” is a great opportunity for encouragement and motivation for everyday, regular chicks like you and me. Women entrepreneurs and small business owners who are starting out, are still figuring out your best marketing strategy, are just building a team, are trying to make your first sale(s), or, like Oprah, had this product or service launch which amounted to a puff of air.
Good news, ladies! Even a tycoon like Oprah is not on her “A” game with her new venture! But I will bet you that she will find a way to overcome her current challenges and woes, and create a successful network. Whatever “wrong” things she did at the onset of this collaboration, Oprah will likely correct, shift and restructure in order to create a successful product.
Let this offer you and your business an explosion of reassurance and bolster your confidence when you feel like your business is taking “too long” to take off, or you have hit a slump.
Success is not always dished to the already successful, nor is success so easily attained. Hard work, risk, wisdom and a lot of patience is required if you want to someday have Oprah-like fame and/or fortune.
Today, if you are feeling discouraged, take heart (and a success lesson) from Oprah’s OWN Woes – even the uber-moguls have an off-season.
Dig in, regroup and keep on pressing toward your own vision of success!
